Tent London Pavilion
design competition, London
The brief was for a small pavilion to be set up at Tent London on Brick Lane, which explored contemporary work.
The design response was the 'Museum of Workplace Antiquity 1980-2008". The key idea is that digitisation makes most pre-digital objects and spatial requirements redundant. But we are still attached to, and fascinated by, the old means of production. Ubiquitous plastic Ikea storage boxes are used as walls, and are filled with redundant technology and lighting. The internal space is a wifi hotspot, for gathering, and for working on a laptop.
